The much maligned invite system for ordering the OnePlus Two was really starting to grate on my nerves the past couple of weeks. Having signed up on 27th July, the day of launch, I grabbed myself a reservation around 320,000th in line. Of course, for every friend one referred to also join the list, you would get bumped up a place.
As I watched my own spot in the reservation list move depressingly downwards to 414,000th, I realised that my hopes for getting one of these phones anytime soon seemed to be getting fainter and fainter….. until today.
At last, OnePlus announced a one hour “no invite required” flash sale. As the servers creaked under the load of thousands of orders being made at the same time, with a little persistance I managed to thrust my £299 upon them and get myself a shiny new 5.5″ sexy Android phone with a top of the line octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 4GB LPDDR4 RAM, 3,300mah battery, fingerprint scanner and 64GB built in storage.
At that sort of price to spec ratio, I’m all happily sorted for the next year of whatsapping, instagramming and facebooking. Because, let’s be honest – do I need all the extra bells and whistles of speed for how I use my phone? Not really. But do I NEEEEEEEEEEEEEED (want) all the extra bells and whistles of speed? Absolutely!!
Onwards to the next wait – now that they have my money, how long will it be until they ship the thing? Wouldn’t be surprised if I’m still waiting by the time we hit November. Will it be worth it? I have little doubt that it will
